What is the Value of a Rolex?

Posted March 1st, 2012 in Timepieces by admin

Rolex. You think luxury, classic, prestige, you’ve made it! Life’s achievements are celebrated with a Rolex. It is the most recognized timepiece in the world that consistently holds and even increases in value.

There are technical reasons for the value of a Rolex watch. It has been the first in many ways:

  • Manufactured the first truly waterproof case now universally known by the name Rolex Oyster.
  • Manufactured the first officially certified chronometer movement (15 days & nights of testing in different positions, temperatures, pressures, so the watch will endure whatever your body can and more)
  • Manufactured the first watch to display the day and date automatically to name a few.

Rolex is dedicated to creating the perfect timepiece with the best technology and materials. They manufacture their own movements (factory movements are more valuable and allow for incredible precision and accuracy). They are the only company to use the 904L stainless steel, a super alloy that makes the most anti-corrosive watch on the market. Alloy their own gold (white gold contains 15% palladium, pink gold contains 2.5% platinum) and specially cut the synthetic sapphire for more scratch resistance. A blue Parachrom hairspring is added to keep your watch accurate in magnetic fields and make more shock resistant. Each Rolex takes at least a year to manufacture. No less than 150 operations just to stamp out the case from a solid block of stainless steel, 18kt gold or platinum and machine it. There are more than 220 components in each movement, assembled by hand with computer assistance.

Basically, with a Rolex watch, you get an extremely precision made timepiece that holds its value in money and emotional value.
